For most brides, the best time to get eyelash extensions is two to three days before the wedding. By then the first 24 hours of curing are behind you, you’ve had time to get used to your new look, and your set is still full on the big day.
If you’ve never had extensions, it’s worth adding a trial a few weeks earlier. Here’s a simple plan, from the trial to the honeymoon.
Why do a trial?
A trial is simply an application done ahead of time so you know how it feels and looks. It lets you:
- See how your chosen effect suits your eye shape.
- Check that the lashes feel comfortable day to day.
- Make sure length and curl work with your planned makeup.
- Show the result to your makeup artist with time to adjust.
With a trial about a month out, you wear the set for a few weeks and then decide with your lash artist whether the final appointment will be a refill or a full new set.
If you notice persistent itching, burning or redness at any point, stop and see an ophthalmologist. Far better to find out at the trial than in wedding week.
A simple timeline
| When | What |
|---|---|
| About 1 month before | Trial application |
| About 2 weeks before | Review the result, settle the final effect |
| 2–3 days before | Final set or refill |
| Wedding day | Just brush through and enjoy |
Wedding season competes with graduations and year-end parties, so book your dates as soon as yours is set.
Which effect photographs best?
Lashes show up more in photos than in the mirror, so balance matters. During mapping, your lash artist designs the effect around your eye shape:
- Natural: soft and elegant — you, just more awake.
- Doll (boneca): opens the eye and highlights the center.
- Cat eye (gatinho): lengthens the outer corner for a refined look.
- Fox eyes: lifts the eye upward for a bolder finish.
Brazilian Volume gives light, natural fullness; Russian Volume, with handmade fans, is denser and tends to stand out in evening photos. Read more in lash styles for every eye shape and Brazilian vs Russian volume lashes.
Beach weddings in Ceará
Barefoot-in-the-sand ceremonies are classic Ceará, but sun, wind, sea air and heat need a little planning:
- Protect the first 24 hours — no water, steam or heavy sweating after your appointment.
- Pick a comfortable effect. For long outdoor ceremonies, lighter volume is often more practical.
- Pack a mini kit: a spoolie and tissues to dab your face.
- Rinse afterwards. If you go into the sea for photos, rinse your lashes with fresh water and pat dry.
With extensions you can skip mascara — one less thing to smudge in the heat or during happy tears.
Coordinating with your makeup artist
Tell your makeup artist you’ll be wearing extensions, and agree on a few points:
- No lash curler and no waterproof mascara — both damage extensions.
- Oil-free makeup remover at the end of the night.
- Strip lashes on top of extensions aren’t recommended; if more drama is wanted, plan it into your set.
- Share trial photos so she can plan shadow and liner.
What about the honeymoon?
A set looks its best for about three to four weeks, and refills are recommended every 15 to 21 days. A final set done a few days before the wedding usually carries you through a short honeymoon. For a longer trip, book a refill for when you’re back, within that window.
While travelling, keep the routine: wash daily with lash foam, rinse after the sea or pool and don’t rub your eyes. Full aftercare is in how long eyelash extensions last.
