Guararapes is small on the map but one of Fortaleza’s most sought-after places to live: residential towers, tree-lined streets and the Cocó green belt close by. If you have just moved here or are staying with friends, this guide covers what the neighborhood is, what is around it, how lash care fits a Guararapes routine, and how to reach Niely Oliveira — Studio de Cílios in Cambeba.
What Guararapes is
According to the official neighborhood profile, Guararapes grew out of the old Mata do Cocó, a large forested area that was gradually settled as the city expanded. The name has Indigenous roots, linked to the idea of a “thunderous noise”, and also echoes Brazilian history.
In recent decades the neighborhood has seen strong real estate growth and many new high-rises. Official figures show the population rising from about 5,300 in 2010 to about 7,600 in 2022, and an Ipece study reported by Diário do Nordeste ranks Guararapes among the highest-income neighborhoods in Fortaleza.

The Cocó green belt

Av. Coronel Miguel Dias
Av. Coronel Miguel Dias is the neighborhood’s best-known avenue and, according to a property survey cited by Diário do Nordeste, one of the most valued streets in the city. It is also where the drive toward Washington Soares begins.

Lash care for a Guararapes routine
Work, meetings and evening plans leave little time to get ready, which is exactly where lash extensions help: you wake up with your eyes done. To make them last:
- First 24 hours: avoid water, steam, sauna and heavy sweating. Cycling, running or the gym can wait a day.
- Daily cleaning: in Fortaleza’s heat, sweat and oil build up at the lash line. Wash with lash foam and a soft brush, then pat dry.
- Makeup for evenings out: use an oil-free remover and skip waterproof mascara and the lash curler. For dinners and events, Russian volume gives a bold look with no mascara needed — more tips in makeup with eyelash extensions.
- Keep refills on schedule: a set looks its best for about 3 to 4 weeks, with a refill every 15 to 21 days.
If you notice persistent itching, redness, burning or eye pain, stop using products around your eyes and see an ophthalmologist or dermatologist.
