Passaré is a large, busy neighborhood in Fortaleza whose story begins with a lagoon and an old colonial land grant. Today it combines residential streets, plenty of green space and one of the city’s best-known leisure spots, the Zoobotanical Park. This guide covers what the neighborhood is about and how lash extensions fit into a full schedule.
What Passaré is
According to Fortaleza em Bairros, the city government’s neighborhood platform, Passaré covers about 7.18 km² and is home to more than 50,000 people — a lively area with schools, street markets and a strong community feel.
The “shortcut lagoon”
In Tupi, “passaré” means “lagoon of the shortcut”: according to the city, this was the shortest path between the old villages of Messejana and Parangaba. The neighborhood grew out of the sesmaria (land grant) of Lagoa do Passaré, given in 1810 to a Portuguese settler named Antônio José Gomes. The grant was later split into smaller plots; its core, the Passaré farm, stayed with his descendants and was bought in 1942 by historian and former Fortaleza mayor Raimundo Girão.
Lagoa do Passaré
Lagoa do Passaré is part of the Cocó River basin and, according to the city, one of the cleanest lagoons in Fortaleza, fed by several streams. Thanks to the large green areas, residents like to say the neighborhood has a “smell of green” and an “eternal breeze” in the middle of the afternoon.
Fortaleza Zoobotanical Park
In the 1960s, two plots of the old farm were expropriated to create the Sargento Prata Zoo and the Falconete Fialho Municipal Garden, which together form the Parque Zoobotânico de Fortaleza. According to Diário do Nordeste, the zoo is on Av. Prudente Brasil in Passaré and reopened in April 2026 after more than two years of renovation. The garden next to it is used for picnics and family gatherings.
Visiting days and hours can change, so check the city’s official channels before you go.
Tips for a visit
- Go in the morning, before the heat peaks.
- Bring water, sunscreen and a cap.
- Light clothes and sneakers make it easier to walk between the enclosures and the garden.
Lash extensions in a Passaré routine
Many people here juggle work, kids, college and long commutes across the city. That is exactly where lash extensions help: you wake up ready, with no mascara and no midday touch-ups.
For everyday wear, Brazilian volume is a popular choice for a light, natural result with Y-shaped fibers; if you like a bolder look, Russian volume uses handmade fans. Compare both in Brazilian vs Russian volume lashes.
Care that makes a difference
- For the first 24 hours, avoid water, steam, saunas and heavy sweating.
- Wash your lashes daily with lash foam and a soft brush.
- Use an oil-free remover, and skip waterproof mascara and lash curlers.
- Never pull or rub the lashes, even a loose one.
- Keep refills on schedule, usually every 15 to 21 days.

Beauty in the area
Passaré and its neighboring areas have a wide range of beauty services: lash studios, brow artists, waxing, nail and hair salons. When choosing a lash artist, look for hygiene, mapping suited to your eye shape, proper isolation and clear aftercare guidance.
If you notice persistent itching, redness, burning or eye pain, stop using products around the eyes and see an ophthalmologist.
