Luciano Cavalcante is a lived-in Fortaleza neighborhood: new apartment buildings next to houses, plenty of squares and a strong sense of community, historically tied to the Cocó area and with easy access to Av. Washington Soares. Here is a short history, what the neighborhood offers day to day, how lash care fits that routine, and how to reach Niely Oliveira — Studio de Cílios in Cambeba.

Named after an engineer

The official name is Engenheiro Luciano Cavalcante. According to the City of Fortaleza’s official neighborhood profile, it was created on 31 May 1968 by Municipal Law 3.549/68, from an older locality called Salineiro do Cocó.

The name honors Luciano Cavalcante, a Fortaleza-born engineer who studied in the United States, where he also earned two master’s degrees. In the 1950s he played a key role in developing the Cocó area, helping bring electricity, paved roads and telephone lines to what was then a sparsely populated place. He died young, at 38.

According to official figures, the neighborhood had about 21,800 residents in 2022 — roughly 40% more than in 2010.

What the neighborhood offers

There is no single postcard sight here, and many residents like it that way: it is a place to live. Official city data paint the picture:

  • Squares: around ten public squares for evening walks, dog outings and kids’ play.
  • Bike lanes: about 9 km of bike lanes plus bike-share stations, handy for short trips.
  • Sport and schools: a city-run “areninha” (public synthetic football pitch) and several municipal and state schools, which add to the family feel.
  • Connections: the neighborhood’s history ties it to the Cocó area, and quick access to Av. Washington Soares puts the whole south zone within reach.

Lash care for everyday life

Between work, school runs, the square and a bike ride, there is little time for makeup. Lash extensions get your eyes ready first thing in the morning — and last longer with a few habits:

  • First 24 hours: avoid water, steam, sauna and heavy sweating. Save cycling or running for the next day.
  • Daily cleaning: Fortaleza’s heat means sweat and oil build up at the lash line. Wash every day with lash foam and a soft brush, then pat dry.
  • Right products: use an oil-free remover, and skip waterproof mascara and the lash curler.
  • Refills: a set looks its best for about 3 to 4 weeks, with a refill every 15 to 21 days. See how often to get a lash refill.

If you notice persistent itching, redness, burning or eye pain, stop using products around your eyes and see an ophthalmologist or dermatologist.

First set? Brazilian volume is often a great start: Y-shaped fibers for light, natural volume that suits everyday life.
